Pyropel® MD-50 Medium Density

A rigid, high compressive strength fiberboard, Pyropel® MD-50 can be deformed slightly under pressure to conform to small surface irregularities. It is designed as a polyimide insulation board where temperature and compressive strength are the key properties required. MD-50 can be machined easily with high-speed milling, drilling or cutting tools, and has excellent chemical resistance to most strong acids, solvents, fuels and lubricants.

Typical Uses / Industry

Pyropel MD-50 is a tough, durable, easily machined polyimide hardboard. It can be used in applications up to 550°F continuous when ceramic insulations are too brittle or as a cost-effective replacement for more expensive polyimide parts in welding nozzles, solder trays, thermal insulation washers or dies and presses. The material is slightly compressible and will deform under compressive loading to conform to surface irregularities.

Custom Finishing and Fabricating

Pyropel MD-50 is available in standard 2’ x 2’ and 2’ x 3’ sheets in 5/16” thickness. Custom size sheets are available upon special request.
